The HK Prize and Other Competitions in Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Prize is Asia’s premier high school contest, offering cash prizes, travel expenses and other perks to students who compete. This competition recognizes academic achievements, talent and extracurricular involvement while encouraging social justice activities among participating students. Nomination by teachers is necessary in order to qualify for this prize; should one team win they will conduct their research project here – an invaluable experience that may lead them towards further scholarship opportunities!

At the HK Film Awards ceremony held annually in April, awards are bestowed by a panel of film workers and critics who cast votes. Nominations for these coveted accolades are announced early January; voting takes place through March; winners are then recognized at an award ceremony by being given an engraved trophy, now one of Hong Kong’s most desired accolades in filmmaking.

Other competitions in Hong Kong offer young people opportunities to win cash prizes and other benefits, from science research awards to cultural or social awareness issues. Each competition has their own rules and regulations so it is wise to read them thoroughly before applying.

Hong Kong’s rich history has provided scholarship and competition opportunities. One such prize, the SHKS 2023 Best Article Prize on Global Hong Kong Studies, brings scholars from around the globe together to exchange ideas and theories regarding past and present Hong Kong studies; additionally it serves as an avenue to showcase emerging researchers while encouraging international development cooperation.

This prestigious scholarship was established by the Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation, with support from Bank of China (Hong Kong). Its aim is to attract top scientific researchers to Hong Kong while simultaneously supporting forward-thinking scientists in innovating and creating a knowledge-based society. A review board composed of an independent Review Committee and Compliance Oversight Team will assess candidates based on their scientific research achievements as well as any applications, transformation, or creation of social or economic value through applications of their research achievements.

This prize will be awarded to an exceptional Fellow who has demonstrated enterprise and perseverance in medicine in Hong Kong for at least 10 years. To apply for the award, researchers should submit an original, unpublished research paper published within one year of application in HKJO that features first authorship – this can include prospective or retrospective clinical studies, observational studies, epidemiological research or basic science analysis with meta-analyses as eligible topics; submissions that are pending or have already won another prize will not be taken into consideration for consideration; only one person or team per field will be considered; therefore the decision of prize jury is final in awarding.
