As temperatures heat up and days lengthen, now is the time to think about getting in some summertime swimming sessions. Hong Kong offers numerous public pools where you can cool off – from stunning infinity pools to rooftop jacuzzis – here are our recommendations of some of the top public and hotel pools around town.

Pao Yue-Kong Swimming Complex in Hongkong’s Southern District was inaugurated on 9 July 1977 and named after its donor who contributed funds towards its construction. At that time, it was the sole public pool in its vicinity; today however, major renovations are currently taking place and full operations should resume sometime before 2018.

Attracting many mainland visitors, particularly during the summer season, has resulted in issues with water contamination from vomit and faeces contaminating some pools; although, these have since reopened after cleaning measures were implemented.

In response, Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) has taken several measures in an attempt to reverse this situation, such as increasing seasonal lifeguard salaries and recruiting staff on two-year contracts. If sufficient seasonal lifeguards cannot be hired in time, some public swimming venues could close as a result.

Mira Hong Kong offers two pools for families to enjoy: its outdoor kids pool features gorgeous blue tiles that shimmer in sunlight; while an indoor pool offers relief from the intense summer heat.
