The Hong Kong Prize, one of the region’s premier merit-based awards, recognizes scientific research with global impact while encouraging young scientists to pursue science careers. The winner will receive both a monetary prize and the chance to conduct their research in Hong Kong.
Ten Years is a film about Hong Kong’s future which took top honor at this year’s annual award ceremony and was widely criticised for potentially angering Beijing with its depiction of it under greater Chinese control. Ten Years offers several vignettes which tap residents’ anxieties about what the future may hold as Beijing tightens its grip.
Artists are energetic centers of culture and creativity. Through art forms they express their perspectives of global change; providing us with unique views. By awarding this prize we hope to recognize their accomplishments, provide recognition, support and encouragement as they work on creative work or projects or further studies; as well as increase international visibility through top-tier media coverage.
An independent panel of judges will select winners across several categories from all applications received, with finalists displayed in a gallery in the city centre during its duration, with winning artists receiving an engraved gold medal and runner-ups receiving aluminium medallions along with cash prizes of HK$25,000 each. Public votes on their favorite artwork through an interactive website from 6 October until 30 November 2021.
Winners of the HK$200,000 Special Incentive Award for Marathon will be revealed at the race finish line. Permanent Hong Kong residents who complete a standard marathon course in under three hours for men (sub-3), or under three hours and thirty minutes (sub-3:30) for women may qualify for this prize.

A special incentive award of HK$200,000 will be presented to permanent residents who successfully finish the standard marathon course within three hours or three hours and thirty minutes, for both men and women respectively, in this year’s Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon. This new and exciting addition is sure to add additional value for local runners taking part.
