Data SGP is an integral component of GenAI platform and serves as an integrated framework for running SGP analyses. It features classes, functions and data structures used for performing calculations relating to SGP analyses.
Attaining SGP analyses requires knowledge of R, an open-source software environment available on Windows, OSX and Linux operating systems. Download it from CRAN repository and install using component catalog which requires at least manager privileges for an account.
The SGPdata package contains four example data sets designed for use with SGP analyses. One, called sgpData, specifies data in wide format that is compatible with lower level SGP functions like studentGrowthPercentiles and studentGrowthProjections; two more, known as sgpData_LONG and sgptData_LONG are designed for higher level functions like abcSGP and prepareSGP; finally there’s also an instructor number lookup table called sgpData_INSTRUCTOR_NUMBER which helps build teacher student aggregates.
Student Growth Percentiles (SGPs) are determined by grouping students together into academic peers based on previous test scores in a subject. Academic peers consist of other students across the state who have taken similar assessments at the same grade level and subject, enabling us to compare students regardless of where they started from.
SGPs can be an invaluable asset in accurately measuring and communicating student performance. But SGPs aren’t the only method available for measuring academic growth and progress; other methods exist such as comparing students who had identical prior test scores or using more complex models to track academic growth and development.
GenAI platform also supports additional tools for analyzing and reporting student achievement data, such as state-wide achievement reports and customized performance charts. Statewide reports include data on overall proficiency, course completion rates, graduation rates, as well as graduation rates – while customized performance charts offer an intuitive visual way to interpret data sets with multiple sets of comparison and contrast capabilities.
GenAI’s platform also features an expansive library of data visualizations and dashboards to quickly and efficiently produce reports and analytics. These charts, graphs and tables offer an effective means of visualizing large amounts of information quickly and efficiently – which teachers and district leaders who utilize the platform can take advantage of for their own analytics reporting needs.
