The Hong Kong Prize for Sport 2024

Hong Kong may be a small nation, yet its athletes consistently rank among the best performers at Olympic events. Their hard work is rewarded handsomely – medals and bonuses from Olympic organisers come their way for every tournament, including 2024 Games where two sports stars, Cheung Chun-hung and Wong Yin-yan have already amassed total bonuses worth an astounding HK$9 Million from Olympic organisers for both their outstanding performance during events as well as contributing positively to society.

HKEA extends our congratulations and thanks to all winners and their families for their achievements, while their prize money will undoubtedly encourage more people to participate and help us all to create a brighter future together. However, it should be remembered that an overly-promoted prize money could give rise to pathological gambling; according to Dr John Tse Wing-ling from City University of Hong Kong’s associate professor Dr John Tse Wing-ling noted this should not happen with media emphasising prize size as this could encourage gambling habits among its viewers and readers.
