The Hong Kong Prize 2024 Exhibition is currently taking place at the G/F Exhibition Hall of HK Sci Museum until November 4. This showcase presents five Hong Kong scientists who had won this prestigious award, such as Dennis Lo Yuk-ming who won in 2016 as Life Science Prize laureate, Luk Kam-biu and Joseph Sriyal Malik Peiris who both won physical science prizes in 2021, and Mok Ngai-ming who took home Mathematical Sciences Prize laurate honors – interactive exhibits related to their research are displayed as part of this exhibition.
As well as receiving a medal, the winner will also receive a trophy, certificate and commemorative plaque. Furthermore, their team will be invited to a special ceremony held by the Hong Kong Science Museum in June which will include a panel discussion regarding the significance of HK Prize.
Not finishing in the top three but within the top eight will still be eligible to win team-event medals and cash prizes; maximum team-event gold prizes reach HK$12m while silver and bronze medals may range between HK$6m and 3m respectively. Semi-finalists who make an Honorable Mention Certificate may also receive complimentary tickets to HKGNA concert events.
The Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Prize (HKSTIP) is a scientific award designed to recognise high-quality research in artificial intelligence/robotics/life/health sciences/new materials/energy sources/advanced manufacturing fields. HKSTIP operates under stringent standards and procedures. Review work is independently undertaken by both a Review Committee and Compliance Oversight Team; personnel involved with its operation must observe professional ethics. If anyone violates any provisions of its Charter, they will be disqualified from receiving prize money or trophies and the Board reserves the right to interpret its provisions accordingly and take appropriate measures against such violations.
